How to get to Bollmannsruh

From the motorway A2, it takes about half an hour by car to reach Bollmannsruh. There is a large parking area in front of the KiEZ grounds. Brandenburg has a train station with trains directly to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main station). The trains are called RE1.

The two airports of Berlin are called Tegel (TXL) and Schönefeld (SXF). Budget airlines tend to prefer Schönefeld as their destination. The new airport of Berlin will not yet be operational in 2019. Tegel connects to Berlin main station with a bus, while Schönefeld is connected by a city train (S-Bahn). The RE1 is the relevant train also for people arriving by train; coming from northern, eastern and southern Europe, they change to RE1 in Berlin, while people coming from western Europe may also change to RE1 in Magdeburg. We will arrange for cars shuttling to Brandenburg main station on Thursday and Sunday.

You may consider combining the trip to the IMC with a visit to the nature reserve “Westhavelland” offering very dark skies, which you can reach by car in about 45 minutes. The new Moon on September 28 favours the nights before the IMC.

From Tegel Airport

Go to Terminal A's bus stops, where TXL busses stop. There are many yellow ticket machines for Berlin. Do NOT use these. There is one red ticket machine, from which you can buy the ticket to Brandenburg/Bollmannsruh. Both destinations are the same price.

• Choose English and then 'Select dep./dest.'.
• Since there is no train station in Tegel, it offers you 'Berlin-Spandau'. Choose it (or any other station in Berlin).
• For the destination, type BOLL and choose Bollmannsruh.
• Then choose 'Single tickets' and select a date.

The price should be 6.90€.

Next to middle one of the three exits of Terminal A is a tourist information, which also sells tickets to anywhere in Brandenburg. Tell them 'to Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof'.

Now walk to the other bus stop where busses X9 and 109 stop (if you face the ticket machine, it's to the right). Take the X9 to Zoologischer Garten. From there, take the train RE1 to Brandenburg or Magdeburg and get off the train in Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof (Hbf).

Those who asked for a shuttle from Brandenburg Hbf are collected at Brandenburg Hbf (station) and should look for a car in front of the station. We will try to be with a car at the Brandenburg station between 14h and 20h close to the full hour, but prefer to know who needs a shuttle beforehand - please, contact the LOC if you need a ride. (Trains from Berlin and Potsdam direction arrive in Brandenburg HH:37 and HH:57.)

The bus from Brandenburg stops at the main road close to the KiEZ (and the hotel also named Bollmannsruh). From the main road you will find our signs to the IMC location (also people arriving by car should look for these signs).

From Schönefeld Airport

Walk to the station. You will pass through a pedestrian subway where there are many ticket machines. You can enter Bollmansruh or Brandenburg Hbf as a destination. It's the same price and should result in 6.90€ (regular price). The line RB22 goes to Potsdam, and you need to change trains in Potsdam-Sanssouci. At this station, change to RE1 to Brandenburg/Magdeburg and get off the train in Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof (Hbf). This connection works 20 mins past each hour until midnight (HH:20 from Schönefeld).
